Flexible Scrollable display of READIUS

The palm-sized Readius unscrolls into a 5" electronic-ink display, which only consumes power when refreshing.

Mobile devices and media devices are getting smaller and smaller. As the device gets smaller so is the screen on which we view the content and at the same time, the content made for cellular and other mobile devices is becoming more and more detailed, entricate, and enriched.

The challenge of device inventors now is how to best experience this diminutive content without sacrificing the essence of the mobile device.

Polymer Vision will be releasing its READIUS mobile-phone audio player edition, with flexible and rollable displays which e-book readers would surely be happy about. This fist-sized READIUS would unscroll into a handy 5-inch active-matrix electrophoretic display, which is soft on the eyes and requires very little power.

So far, the Readius’ main drawback is lack of color, lack of support for high resolution photos and videos. But Polymer vision is working on it, besides the READIUS is optimally designed for reading.

While other companies such as Magink have been refining their own digital ink display technology for full-color, high-resolution, low-energy-consuming applications, they have yet to make their displays compact and portable, let alone flexible and foldable.
